Getting vulnerable.
Each week, fans are getting to know Devin as he looks for love with Jenn Tran on “The Bachelorette.”
This week, Devin stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, where he spoke to co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt about Jenn’s ex Matt showing up in New Zealand.
During the episode, Devin said he would leave if Jenn decided to let Matt stay and join the journey with the other men.
And Joe asked Devin if he really meant that when he said it on the show or if he was just speaking in the heat of the moment.
Devin stood his ground, sharing, “Oh, yeah, that’s really how I felt. I like to say that I think through a lot of the things that I’m going to say versus just spewing them out. But that was a moment that was just pure emotion for me. I have played ex games before. It’s been a theme in my life in the past. For me in my mind, I wanted her to have the strength to turn all of that away. I have turned a new chapter in my life and I am putting it all out there for this woman that I want to see where it could go.”

Devin shared why it would have been particularly hard for him to see Matt join the group after how his feelings were developing with Jenn.
He said, “We just had an amazing one-on-one date, so it felt personal to me. Those feelings were personal. I had just told her that I was falling for her. All of these new, developing, and budding emotions that I was experiencing were real and then the hammer drops. Some guy that had dated her in the past could just take her away and that could be that.”
Devin went on, saying, “I know how easy it is to fall back into a feeling of comfortability with an ex partner. That struck me in a very emotional way. I wasn’t happy. If he stayed, I really would have left. I am not one to judge people for how they are and what they want in life, but I can choose to make myself not a part of it. That’s the control that I have. If him staying meant a lot to her, then I would support her, but then I couldn’t be here with her on that journey.”
