Superman & Lois star Tyler Hoechlin reveals a heartwarming story about David Corenswet and his support for his fellow DC actor. With the DC Universe getting ready to launch with Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters,” 2024 is also marking the conclusion of The CW’s DC TV era. Set to return for ten episodes to wrap up its story, Superman & Lois season 4 will finish the DC TV line-up on the network when the show resumes in October.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hoechlin opened up about saying goodbye to Superman & Lois with James Gunn’s new DC Universe being on its way. During his reflection, Hoechlin revealed that Superman movie star Corenswet actually reached out during the end of production for Superman & Lois season 4, sharing the following:
I, again, very honored and privileged to have been a part of this and super happy to pass it off to David. I’m sure he’s gonna do a great job. He actually did [a] really nice letter as we were wrapping up, so that was really lovely of him to do. But yeah, I wish him the best, and I have no doubt that they are gonna do great.
What The DCU Needs To Learn From Superman & Lois About The Man Of Steel
Superman & Lois has been referred to as one of the best modern representations of the Man of Steel, and this is definitely a series that James Gunn’s Superman can take inspiration from in the DC Universe. Tonally speaking, Superman & Lois puts a major emphasis on family, but still demonstrates a willingness to focus on mature stories while also giving the audience an action-packed DC adventure. The characterization of the figures in Superman & Lois is also one of the most balanced ones in live-action, combining both classic and modern elements together to flesh out its cast.
Another major takeaway from Superman & Lois for Gunn’s Superman to take into account is the shared focus on not just Clark Kent, but also Lois Lane, hence the show’s title. With Rachel Brosnahan set to play the next cinematic iteration of Lois, Gunn’s DC Universe should center as much as Superman will be in their films. Based on what is known about Gunn’s take on Superman thus far, it definitely appears that some of the stronger elements from Superman & Lois will be felt in one way or another.
As the DCU Superman movie will be wrapping production very shortly, time will tell whenever the first trailer will be released by DC Studios. While the world gets ready to bid farewell to Superman & Lois this fall, it wouldn’t be shocking if a teaser for the new film doesn’t arrive until the end of 2024. Hopefully, when Superman & Lois season 4 begins on October 17, it will set up a solid final season for the series.
