David Corenswet celebrates Superman‘s filming wrap. James Gunn’s Superman reboot started filming on February 29, wrapping up production five months later. After a long period with no set photos, as the movie started filming outdoors in Ohio, the first look at several players in Superman‘s star-studded cast started coming out. The DC Universe’s first movie will now enter its post-production phase, getting ready for Superman‘s July 11, 2025, release date.
On Instagram, Corenswet (via @homeofdcu/Twitter) celebrated the end of production on the Superman reboot with a hilarious video.
Now that he no longer has to stay in Superman shape all the time, Corenswet is having fun with a piece of cake outside his strict superhero diet. He was not the only way to celebrate the filming wrap, as Gunn shared a cast photo alongside a heartfelt message to mark the occasion.
When Could The First Footage From The DCU Superman Reboot Be Released?
A 2024 Reveal Would Be Unlikely
A lot of times, the first look at major superhero movies comes at San Diego Comic-Con. However, Superman brought no footage to this year’s edition of the event, and as the movie will be released a few weeks before SDCC 2025, that is also out of the question. Perhaps DC could bring back a beloved event this year. Fans have been asking for a new edition of the DC FanDome virtual event to get a new look at the many DC projects in development, and that could be the perfect place for a Superman teaser.
However, there is no sign that Gunn is planning to bring back DC FanDome this year. In fact, the director has previously commented that the first Superman trailer will not come in 2024. As such, the best possible date for the first trailer of the Superman reboot is February 9, 2025. That is the date the Super Bowl will take place next year. The event is known for featuring several high-profile movie trailers throughout its duration, and the first look at Superman coming there would make sense.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the biggest superhero movie of 2024. The Marvel Cinematic Universe film debuted its first footage at this year’s Super Bowl. That could end up being the same path Corenswet’s Superman follows, with DC fans having to wait around seven months to watch the first trailer for the Superman reboot. However, with all the DCU heroes and villains in the movie and with Gunn writing and directing, it seems like the trailer will be worth the wait.
