The Las Vegas Raiders have made some big moves this offseason and look poised to make a postseason run. But all of the talk as training camp nears has been focused on star wide receiver Davante Adams and whether or not he wants to be traded.
Adams’ former teammate Aaron Rodgers has been pretty openly recruiting Adams to join him on the New York Jets. This has led to a lot of speculation about whether Adams wants to be dealt away, even prompting his agents to release a statement denying all of the rumors and insisting that there had been no discussions about a trade.
And now Adams has gone on the record once again, appearing on the Club Shay Shay podcast and re-iterating that he is locked in on this Raiders team and feels good about what they can accomplish, via Sean Leahy of Yahoo Sports:
“I’m actively on the Raiders,” Adams told Sharpe. “What do I look like sitting here talking to other people about being on another team? And that’s how I still feel about it right now. I’m locked in with the Raiders, and I really feel good about this team, and as far as I know they feel good about me.
“If that ever changes, if that got to a point where they weren’t feeling the same way, I ain’t done playing, so obviously we would figure out whatever we needed to figure out.”
Davante Adams wants to be with the Raiders, and he has made that abundantly clear once again. He believes in this team and their ability to compete and is coming into the 2024 season fully on board with what this franchise is building.
Of course, things can always change in the NFL, and as he said, if the Raiders suddenly felt they wanted to move on, then they would figure something out. And if there were one player Adams would be open to reuniting with, it would be Aaron Rodgers:
“If I were to be reunited with anybody, it would be with Aaron, or be relocated anywhere, it would be with Aaron,” Adams said. “There’s a lot of stuff last year in the media with them asking … they talk about whatever without me even being involved in it. It ended up getting all the way to the point where it got in the locker room and people was thinking that I was the driving force.”
While Adams undoubtedly wants to remain and find success with the Raiders, this last tidbit is likely enough to keep up the belief that, at some point, he could be on the move. The rumors will die down for now, but if the Raiders struggle, the talks of Adams to the Jets will surely return once again.
Davante Adams reveals when Antonio Pierce earned respect of Raiders locker room
One reason Davante Adams and many others believe in the Raiders this season is because Antonio Pierce has been promoted from interim to permanent head coach. Pierce really turned things around when he took over last season, and he has the backing of the entire Raiders locker room.
Adams recently spoke on Pierce, noting that he actually earned the respect of the locker room before he took over as head coach when he addressed everyone during a team meeting. Adams said the Raiders could feel his passion and he wasn’t afraid to call out any players, which is exactly how the star receiver likes to be coached.
