There’s a certain percentage of Summer House fans that are critical of Paige DeSorbo’s parameters for dating Craig Conover. She and the Southern Charm star have been dating since the fall of 2021, and the duo sometimes are not on the same page about their potential future together.
Paige is unwilling to leave her career and family in New York City, while Craig and his business, Sewing Down South, is Charleston-based. Besides the physical logistics, Craig wants to have children in the next five years. He was discussing engagement last year, but Paige was reluctant.
To their credit, both parties are communicating clearly and accepting each other’s stance. So why is Paige getting the brunt of online hate? Craig addressed the issue in a recent interview and spoke in defense of his girlfriend.
Craig is a “different person” than he was last year

Craig told Us Weekly that he’s surprised by the negativity from the public.
“I tend to have to remind people they’re so hard on Paige but I was like, ‘Guys, I haven’t asked her to marry me yet.’ Like, you know? I mean if I ask her, and she says no, then maybe we can shift the burden. But the burden’s still on me to pop the question,” Craig said.
Craig broached the topic of engagement on camera during Season 8 of Summer House. Paige was not ready at that time. But a psychic from Season 9 predicted that they would be engaged by the end of 2024.
The couple recently took a trip to Italy, and fans were on ring alert. However, it seems they returned to the States without that fanfare. But taking the expectation out of the equation, Craig credited his personal growth to Paige.
“I’m excited that we’ve taken the time we have because there’s been so much growth in the past year-and-a-half that I’m just a different person now than I was back then,” he added.
