The Indianapolis Colts finished up their final training camp practice ahead of their preseason opener on Friday.
After practice, head coach Shane Steichen shared the team’s plan for playing their starters for their preseason game against the Denver Broncos.
Steichen shared that all of the Colts starters would play against the Broncos with the exception of “1 or 2” players. Starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is not one of the exceptions, as he is set to make his return to an NFL field after a shoulder injury ended his rookie season after just four games.
He went on to include that the team’s current plan is for the starters to play a couple of series. After multiple weeks of battling each other, the Colts are excited to set their sights on an opposing team, even if it’s only the preseason. And while it may not matter whether they win or lose on Sunday, it’ll still be important that the Colts’ young roster utilizes these reps to prepare them for their Week one matchup of the regular season against AFC South rival the Houston Texans.
