The Boston Bruins have a handful of players entering the final season of their deals in 2024-25. Captain Brad Marchand is easily the most notable out of the bunch, and GM Don Sweeney has made it clear that his goal is to make No. 63 a lifelong Bruin.
However, Marchand is not the only player who has the potential to receive a contract extension. Another Bruin with a real case of getting a new deal is forward Morgan Geekie.
Geekie is set to become a restricted free agent next summer, but given how well he fit into the Bruins’ system this past season, it would not be particularly surprising if they were interested in getting him signed to his next deal early.
Geekie, 26, broke out in a big way for the Bruins this past season, posting new career highs with 17 goals, 22 assists, and 39 points in 76 games. With numbers like these, Geekie proved to be a solid addition to the Bruins’ roster. Furthermore, when looking at the Bruins’ current roster, he has the potential to land a top-six spot at training camp. Thus, he could hit an even higher level in 2024-25.
Nevertheless, with Geekie putting together such a solid year for the Bruins, it would be understandable if they inked him to a new deal before next summer. This is especially true if he carries over the success of the last campaign to next season.
