The 98.5 Play-by-Play man takes to the small screen as Jack Edwards’ replacement.
The wait is over, and it appears the Bruins have decided to go in-house for a new Play-by-Play man for their NESN productions.
The Bruins announced today that Judd Sirott of 98.5 The Sports Hub will be joining NESN’s broadcasts of the B’s alongside Andy Brickley as the replacement for the legendary Jack Edwards, who retired this year:
And your new Bruins announcer is…

The Illinois-born Sirott has a wealth of hockey-calling experience: From being the broadcaster for the Chicago Wolves throughout the 2000’s, a brief stint as the lead-in announcer for the Blackhawks on WGN-AM, and has been calling B’s games for 98.5 since 2017. He will be NESN’s 5th full-time play-by-play announcer, as I choose to count that period in the 2000’s where Dave Shea and Dale Arnold were doing home and road splits as full time.
98.5 will be posting a job offering for the open position soon, and given how late in the game they were to annoint a successor last time they had to do this with Sirott (nearly a week or two into the season) and the sheer number of people that will most likely be chomping at the bit to get this position, I wouldn’t be surprised if the first week or two of regular season games on the radio had a mildly experimental tone to them.
Don’t brush up your resume yet, however; the job has yet to post, and frankly if you’re new to the business, the Remote Board Op job they’re still looking for is just as valuable as any NHL gig.
