A source close to production tells PEOPLE what’s really happening with the long-running Bravo series

Bravo fans were buzzing on Monday, July 29 when Real Housewives of New Jersey executive producer Andy Cohen said on his SiriusXM radio show that the series could have “all fresh faces” for season 15. But don’t go counting out the show’s longtime cast just yet.

A source close to production tells PEOPLE that despite Cohen’s comments and the status of the show’s much-divided cast, the future of the show is still up in the air.

“Nothing has been decided yet,” the insider said.

PEOPLE reached out to Bravo for comment, though the network historically does not comment on casting.

To be fair, Cohen’s comments were far more general than fan sites online made them out to be as rumors spread online that Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs, Jennifer Aydin, Danielle Cabral, Rachel Fuda, Jackie Goldschneider and Jenn Fessler had all been canned.

Speaking with a caller complaining about the show, a seemingly irritated Cohen said, “Alright, well yes, we are rebooting the show. We’re going to reboot it. We’re going to do something different.”

“We’re gonna see what we do,” he said, cutting off the caller as she continued to bash a bulk of the show’s stars. “We’ll see. I don’t know. Maybe just all fresh faces? Maybe. We’ll see.”

Previously, Cohen has said a “rebrand” was possible. “We’re gonna figure something out,” he admitted during an episode of Andy Cohen Live earlier this month. “We’re gonna figure something out. We are all on the same page about that.”

The idea that a full-cast reboot isn’t necessarily unheard of. After all, that’s what Bravo did with The Real Housewives of New York City after its disastrous 13th season

But viewers might remember, that decision wasn’t made right away. RHONY season 13’s final episode aired on Sept. 4, 2021. The reboot wasn’t announced until six months later, on March 23, 2022.

RHONJ might follow that same timeline. Like season 13 of RHONY, the network also cancelled RHONJ‘s season 14 reunion, opting instead to gather the women in two groups to film them watching the finale together.

Cohen wasn’t present for the viewing, sources told PEOPLE, nor were the househusbands (both are staples at RHONJ reunions). Unlike the traditional ball gowns worn by Housewives, the women were all dressed in daytime lunch attire.

As for the drama, insiders say things were mostly tame.

That won’t be the case for the finale itself, which will see the full cast come together at favorite Jersey locale Rails Steakhouse for a sit-down that ends in all-out chaos.

“It’s in the great tradition of absolute shocking, dramatic Jersey finales and they have this final epic group encounter, which is like, it feels like The Last Supper and is just so Jersey,” the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host said back in June. “And it’s shocking and it’s dramatic and it’s amazing TV.”

“People will be talking about for a long time to come,” he noted.
