The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 premiere on Thursday evening found cast member Gina Kirschenheiter at a crossroads in her relationship with boyfriend Travis Mullen.
More specifically, Gina revealed that Travis is still going through his tumultuous divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, which has put a strain on their relationship and their living situation. This has caused Gina — who once lived with Travis in a combined household with him and his three kids — to move out with her own three children.
Following the Season 18 premiere, both Shannon Storms Beador and Andy Cohen shared their thoughts on the matter during the July 11 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Gina’s relationship issues were brought up during the “Work The Polls!” segment on WWHL, where Andy asked viewers if Gina was making the right decision to move out of Travis’ home. “That was very sad,” Andy said.
“I was blown away shocked by it,” Shannon added. “I had no idea.”
Shannon then gave credit to Gina for remaining strong throughout the struggle. “It’s exhausting,” she noted. “It’s just the nonstop drama that neither of them can control and I’m gonna say that I admire her strength because it was very difficult. But they’re still together and they’re great. But I admire her strength for making that choice.”
“It’s a very hard thing to do,” Andy agreed. “And it was very heartbreaking to watch because we all root for them as a couple.”
Are Gina Kirschenheiter and Travis Mullen still together today?
Yes, Gina and Travis are still together in spite of her moving out of their shared home. Earlier this week, Gina took to her Instagram feed where she revealed that her and Travis went on vacation to Mexico, without their kids, to celebrate their friend’s birthday.
Gina even celebrated Travis on Father’s Day in June, penning the sweetest tribute to him and his parenting skills on Instagram. “Thank you for being a rock for your children always and for showing them your love has no boundaries,” she wrote in the post. “For staying true to the course despite enduring things no parent should ever be put through. You are a true example. And obviously, thank you for being the best bonus dad EVER.”
Gina Kirschenheiter’s emotional decision to move out of her home with Travis Mullen
For more context, during the RHOC Season 18 premiere, Gina revealed that Travis’ divorce was becoming too hard on her and her kids. “I feel like in my home it’s me, Travis, six kids, and Travis’ baggage,” she said during a confessional. “And it’s too much.”
Gina noted that her kids were a deciding factor in this decision. “Now, they need space. They need privacy,” she explained. “We went and looked at houses and we looked at what it would take to get into a house the size of our family, and we can’t afford it. Honestly, my gut is telling me that we need to live separately and see where the chips land.”
Although Gina announced that she was scared of “being alone” by not living with Travis, the couple agreed at the end of the episode that this decision was for the best. And since they’re still going strong, it seems like it was for the best.
