News of The Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist getting divorced should not come as a surprise to viewers. Former restauranter and 72-year-old Gerry married Theresa, 70, after meeting her on season 1 of The Bachelor spin-off. Gerry and Theresa’s wedding was a televised ceremony. 22 contestants were chosen to date the Indiana man, out of whom, the “birthday suit” wearing Theresamade quite an impression on fans and Gerry alike. However, Gerry and Theresa announced their divorce during a segment of Good Morning America just three months after the Golden Wedding.

TheExpress consulted a body language expert, Judi James, who observed The Golden Bachelor couple. The expert noticed “tell-late signs” that a split was incoming for Gerry and Theresa. Judi mentioned how it’s not ideal for someone to pick their life partner from a group of competitive women in front of the TV cameras. She called Gerry and Theresa’s marriage a “sham” which was clearly destined to “unpick” quickly.

However, the unpicking happened much quicker than the show’s fans expected. The expert spoke about the “idealistic situation” where a single man or woman who achieves high levels of fame from participating in a TV show will “cash in on that fame” by falling for someone their own age. However, when it came to Gerry, Judi saw how Gerry’s body language “has never” shown commitment to Theresa. Judi continued explaining how Theresa’s body language “poses” had always suggested that Gerry had smitten her. The expert used this as an example to insist,

“Their split is not unexpected then.”

The expert added that while Theresa looked “smitten” during her public appearances with The Golden Bachelor, Gerry appeared like he was “detached.” Theresa was always clinging to Gerry’s arm and would gaze up at him to “signal deep devotion” to Gerry, who pretty much always looked like he was detached. Judi admits how it’s “sad” that the matchmaking process did not work in Theresa and Gerry’s favor. However, the separation and lack of attachment between them should have raised red flags from the offset. Interestingly, the real reason behind the split has not been revealed.

The Golden Bachelor viewers are now questioning the couple’s devotion to each other since both were still living separately in different States. While Gerry and Theresa had looked at potential homes in South Carolina and had also considered New Jersey. They could never decide, even though they kept looking at home after home. Gerry and Theresa’s wedding was rushed. They’d only known each other for five months before they married. Still, Theresa seemingly fell head over heels for Gerry when he seemed to be regretting the decision to pick her over other potential mates.
