The New Orleans Saints have an intriguing quarterback competition ramping up. Rookie Spencer Rattler has some extremely impressive physical traits, including notable mobility and a cannon of an arm. There’s no doubt that he has prototypical physical skills for the NFL.
When will he get a shot for the Saints in the regular season? That is unknown. For now, Rattler is battling Jake Haener for the backup role in new Orleans. Both players made splash plays on Saturday night.
The Saints defeated the Arizona Cardinals on a game-winning field goal by rookie Charlie Smyth to kick off their preseason.

The young QB was excited to be a part of the victory. Rattler’s gotten involved in the New Orleans community already, and he feels at home in the Superdome – it seems. You love to see that comfortability from a rookie.

Clearly, there is no lack of hype or anticipation regarding the young quarterback. The staff has been impressed by his demeanor so far, and his teammates have noticed that aspect of his game, too.
Rattler has a ways to go before he is an NFL starter, possibly for the black and gold, but he started his pro career off in a great way during the team’s win over Arizona. Folks are starting to take notice, and Rattler is ready to continue to learn.
