Stassi Schroeder and Kristina Kelly looked back on a drunken fight they had in Australia during an episode of Stassi’s podcast last week.
Although Kristina was slow to open up about the awkward encounter with her longtime friend, noting that the dispute was “so vain,” the 35-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum admitted to being set off by a stranger who offered a compliment to Kristina.
On the July 24 episode of Stassi, via Heavy, Stassi said she made Kristina cry after the person compared Kristina to the late actress Grace Kelly, saying she was “the most beautiful thing ever,” even though Kristina didn’t have blonde hair or blue eyes.
“If anyone resembles Grace Kelly, it’s me. He was like obsessing over her,” Stassi stated, acknowledging that she likely got mad at Kristina because she was “really jealous and upset.”
Looking back at the tense moment, Kristina said she tried to make Stassi feel better by telling her she was a fan favorite on Pump Rules.
“You were like, ‘No. I’m Grace Kelly.’ He was like, ‘Well, I don’t know though.’ He just went back into me, like, ‘She just has this vibe and what she’s wearing.’ And you were like, ‘You’re on this trip with me.’ And like, ‘Me, me, me, me.’ I was kind of, like, trying to make light of it,” Kristina explained. “And I was like, ‘Stassi 10 people just wanted your photo, let me have the Grace Kelly thing.’ Like, joking. But in that moment, she was really not happy about that. And was basically like, ‘You’re here with me!’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ And then I think I excused myself and went to the bathroom.”
After sharing that she broke down crying in the public restroom, Kristina was met with an apology from Stassi.
“I wish I could even explain myself. But I can’t. I have no excuse, reason, understanding of why I was like that. But again, I’m so sorry,” she said.
Kristina went on to say that she and Stassi were sick at the time of the interaction because they had been “day drinking all day” and added that it was the first time Stassi had acted that way towards her.
Months ago, while appearing on Kristin Cavallari‘s podcast, Let’s Be Honest, Stassi insisted that she’s changed since appearing on Pump Rules taught her to play up her reactions because fans expected her to “tell it like it is.”
“I’m not as unfiltered as I used to be. Because I think there is something to be said for, like, thinking before you speak. Just so that you’re not going around hurting everyone’s feelings,” Stassi shared. “And I feel, like, sometimes I’m disappointing people by not being as unfiltered. Because that’s what people know of me. So when I would go on TV, I would be like, ‘Well I have to be unfiltered.’”
“[I became] this character,” she added.
