EXCLUSIVE! Hear the Frantic 911 Call Made by the Mother of Ashley Jones After ‘Teen Mom’ Star Is Allegedly Held Hostage by Ex Bar Smith

The mother of Ashley Jones made a frantic call to 911 on the morning of July 7, begging police to help the Teen Mom star after Ashley’s estranged ex-husband, Bar Smith, allegedly held Ashley hostage inside her apartment. In the terrifying audio of the 911 call— obtained by The Ashley— Ashley’s mother Tasheilia “Tea” Chapple can be heard pleading with officers to get inside Ashley’s apartment.

“This dude has guns! This dude carries guns!” Tea frantically telling the 911 operator. “He’s already shot up her house! So much other stuff is already going on. Please come help my daughter!”

The Ashley exclusively broke the details of what allegedly happened on the day Bar— who is the father of Ashley’s daughter Holly— was arrested and charged with felony-level kidnapping and several other serious crimes. As The Ashley reported, Tea— who has appeared on Teen Mom Family Reunion and several other shows with Ashley— called 911 claiming Bar had threatened to show up at Ashley’s apartment and, when Ashley arrived home that morning, she found that he had made good on his threat.

Tea claimed that she remained on the phone with Ashley as she entered her apartment. Tea said she heard Bar’s voice before the call disconnected, and that Ashley was not responding to Tea’s calls.

In the audio of Tea’s 911 call from the morning, she tells the operator that Bar has a “long record” and is on parole.

“He’s not even supposed to be here! He’s got guns on him and I am scared,” Tea says, adding that Bar and Ashley are currently going through a divorce.

For some reason, Tea tells the 911 operator that Ashley instructed her to tell the cops that they are famous.

“I’m supposed to tell you that she is a celebrity!” Tea says. “We do television! We are on TV, we work for MTV. Please. We are celebrities, please!”

The 911 operator doesn’t seem particularly moved to hear that he’s speaking to someone famous. Instead, he instructs Tea to stay away from the door to Ashley’s apartment.

Tea pleads with the cops to hurry, stating that she and her family are tired of putting up with Bar’s alleged dangerous behavior.

“He has fought all of us! Her dad, me, her brother, her sister,” Tea said. “We’re done with this! We’re done. My daughter is done! We’re done!”

On Thursday, Starcasm obtained the transcript of a recent hearing for Bar, in which his public defender claimed that Ashley may have done “a little bit of fudging [of] the facts of this thing.”

Bar’s attorney argued that Bar was not able to afford the $35,000 bail that had been set for him. (The ‘Teen Mom’ dad is still behind bars as of press time.) The lawyer also claimed that Bar is not a threat to society or a flight risk and should be released with electronic monitoring.

“Mr. Lockettsmith is not a danger to the community. He has a very limited criminal record,” Bar’s attorney claimed. “… he has no prior felonies or gross misdemeanors. He only has two prior misdemeanors, one of which is a DUI from 2021. He comes back as a moderate risk with an NPR score of 5, only one point above being considered a low risk. Furthermore, this is a case where there was no alleged physical altercation or injuries of any kind.

“Mr. Lockettsmith is not a flight risk,” the lawyer told the judge. “According to his NPR, he has no prior failures to appear. While he does reside in California, Mr. Lockettsmith would have no issue traveling back to Clark County for all court appearances.”

The attorney stated that Bar is employed at a bar in California and would like to return to work. However, he stated that Bar is able to remain in Nevada, if the judge deemed it necessary. He stated that Bar could live with a close friend who lives in Clark County, Nevada. The attorney mentioned that Bar would be motivated to attend all required hearings because he does not want to lose the ability to see his daughter, Holly.

“Mr. Lockettsmith also has a daughter who resides in Clark County, giving him the strongest incentive possible to make all his court appearances so that he can remain in her life,” the lawyer claimed.

One of Bar’s many mugshots…

Bar’s lawyer asked that, alternatively, Bar’s bail amount be reduced to a more-attainable amount.

He then stated that Bar’s charges stem mostly from Ashley’s account of what allegedly happened, something the lawyer claims may not be totally truthful. He stated that there is “no call for 911.” (Obviously, we know this is untrue, as Ashley’s mom made the 911 call in this story. Ashley also claimed that she was unable to call herself because Bar had taken away all of her communication devices when she entered her apartment.)

“There’s no call for 911. There’s nothing like that,” the attorney told the judge. “It’s when they show up knocking on the door that she says ‘oh, I’m not here’ but then decides to come out and then tells the story after the facts. So I would just point out it’s not quite as cut and dry as it seems and, based on all that, he is entitled to a release on the least-restrictive means and a bail he can afford. I would ask for a nominal amount, if any, and that he be released on whatever PCU level will allow him to travel back to California where he’s from.”
