“NHL News: Ex-Bruins Goalie Sheds Light on Jeremy Swayman Talks”

Former Boston Bruins goalie Andrew Raycroft is not worried about Jeremy Swayman remaining without a deal.

10 Question with Andrew Raycroft - Interviews - THE GOAL[ie] NET[work]

The Boston Bruins have one more massive move to make this summer, as star goaltender Jeremy Swayman remains without a contract. With it being over a month into the offseason, some Bruins fans have started to feel antsy about the lack of a deal.

However, former Bruins goaltender Andrew Raycroft is not stressed that Swayman remains unsigned. He also provided a positive take on the matter.

While speaking on WEEI’s The Skate Pod, Raycroft had this to say about his level of concern regarding the Swayman contract talks: “No level of concern. No updates, haven’t heard a thing. Everybody’s gone. The hockey world — everybody is gone. Since July 7 when that development camp shut down the last one in the league, everybody is gone. There’s really no reason for fans to be worried about a contract until September. September 1 is maybe you can start thinking or even talking about it, and even then, they have two weeks (ahead of camp).”

Raycroft is certainly somebody who fans should trust, as he is, of course, a former NHL goaltender who spent 11 years in the sport’s most competitive league. Right now is also the slowest time of the hockey year, evidenced by the lack of moves around the NHL. However, once we get closer to training camp, there is no question that a Swayman deal not being done would create more concern.

With Swayman being the Bruins’ clear long-term answer between the pipes, a deal will get deal.
