Dylan Strome continues to rise in rankings, Caps considered high rollers

Some more positive news on a Tuesday night and more closure on a dark chapter

Caps are high rollers?

Yes you read that correctly. That’s what Anthony Trudeau believes per the Daily Faceoff as he mentions nothing but praise for Spencer Carbery’s bunch. He wrote the following:

“”Like Brunette in Nashville, Spencer Carbery coached the heck out of a Washington Capitals team that was high on character but low on talent. Alex Ovechkin churned out his 18th 30 goal season as John Carlson led the league in ice time from the blue line, but his supporting cast consisted mostly of C+ young players and serviceable old warhorses like Trevor van Riemsdyk and Nic Dowd.””

Harrison Brown of NoVa Caps writes that Dylan Strome is the best move the Caps made two years ago as he was signed to a one year, $3.5 million contract and was signed to a team friendly five miilion cap hit less than seven months after the deal. He cashed in on that extension this past season and looks to capitalize at center this season.

Evgeny Kuznetsov health situation

Longtime Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov is expected to join AHL Hershey after clearing waivers | AP News

Ah yes this one has been a hot question for a long time ever since Evgeny Kuznetsov’s dark chapter has closed. Per Jon Alfano of Breakaway on SI the longtime Capitals forward revealed the scary health situation that caused him to be placed in the player assistance program.

In an interview with Sport-Express, Kuzy said the following which was translated by RMNB:

“”I had rheumatoid arthritis, I took pills and injections all year. Then I stopped taking them, it felt good, nothing hurt. I haven’t taken anything for three months and I feel great, I run, I work out in the gym.””

– Evgeny Kuznetsov
Kuznetsov would also add, “They couldn’t figure out for a year why I couldn’t sleep. I only manage two hours a day. I’m not one to complain but I had to, and no one really believed me. The general manager didn’t even know I’ve been suffering all year.”

Kuznetsov was referring in past tense to Brian MacLellan but now the guards have changed as Chris Patrick is the new GM in town. The injury was specifically a joint injury which is hard for the average person let alone a professional athlete.

Whenever and whereever you’re reading this the puck is going to drop soon and it’s time to get ready.
