Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green and Kenric Green star with Fear the Walking Dead’s Garret Dillahunt
Deadline reports that filming for Amazon MGM Studios’ theatrical drama Sarah’s Oil has wrapped. Sonequa Martin-Green, her husband Kendric Green, who starred in The Walking Dead, and Garret Dillahunt, who starred in Fear the Walking Dead, are part of the cast for the new movie.
The story of Sarah’s Oil is inspired by Tonya Bolden’s book Searching for Sarah Rector: The Richest Black Girl in America. Set in the early 1900s, the story follows 11-year-old Sarah Rector, a girl of African American and Native American descent, born in the Oklahoma Territory. She was allotted approximately 160 acres of barren land as part of the integration of the Indian and Oklahoma territories to form the state of Oklahoma. Though the land wasn’t fit for crops, Sarah placed her hope on the fact the land would be rich in oil. Her hopes were realized, and as she came against the greedy oil barrens, with the help of her friends and family, she became the first African American woman to become a millionaire.
Sarah’s Oil was written by Cyrus Nowrasteh from the script he co-wrote with Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh. The director will produce with John Shepherd, Derrick Williams, Kingdom Story Company’s Kevin Downes, Andrew Erwin, and Daryl Lefever, The Wonder Project’s Jon Erwin, and Levi for Wyldwood Productions.
Zachary Levi and Naya Desir-Johnson lead the film as Bert Smith and Sarah Rector, respectively. They are joined by Sonequa Martin-Green, Garret Dillahunt, Bridget Regan, Kenric Green, Adyan Copes and Stelio Savante.
Sarah’s Oil will premiere in theaters on December 25, 2025.

Walking Dead fans remember Martin-Green as the brave and resilient Sasha Williams, sister to Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman). She was brave until the end when she met her death in season 7.
Most recently, she concluded her role as Commander Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery, a role she played across the five seasons of the series. She also stars in the war comedy-drama My Dead Friend Zoe, which will be released in theaters on November 1.
What else does Kendric Green star in?
Green portrayed Scott, a member of Alexandria, in The Walking Dead. He was introduced in season 6 and, as far as anyone knows, is still living in the newly built Alexandria. He also appeared in Star Trek” Discovery as Mike Burnham Sr., father to Martin-Green’s Michael. He is also known for his roles in Hawaii Five-O, The Originals, and more.
What else does Garret Dillahunt star in?
Dillahunt is known as the sharp shooting, tender hearted John Dorie in Fear the Walking Dead. Dorie was introduced in season 4 and was killed in season 6.
Recently, Dillahunt was announced for a new crime procedural, High Potential. He also stars with Orlando Bloom in Red Right Hand, and in the Viggo Mortensen written, directed, produced, and composed, The Dead Don’t Die, with fellow Fear TWD actor Ray McKinnon.
Dillahunt is well known for his role in Raising Hope and has appeared in 12 Years a Slave, Deadwood, No Country For Old Men and more.
