The Falcons haven’t had a ton of success drafting in recent years, but there have been a couple of players that have gone onto carve nice little careers for themselves, and John Cominsky is one of them.

He was a fourth-round pick in 2019 and played 10 games as a rookie, logging just 11 total tackles and half of a sack. In 2020, he got his first NFL start and put together a 13-game season with 28 tackles, three tackles for loss, a trio of quarterback hits and one sack.

The following season, Cominsky just played four games in 2021, and he was released by the Falcons following the 2022 NFL Draft. Coming out of the University of Charleston, it was always going to be an uphill battle for Cominsky, and thankfully, he found success in Detroit.

Across two seasons with the Lions, Cominsky saw action in 30 games, including 19 starts, putting up 66 tackles, 6 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, and 20 quarterback hits.

Unfortunately for Cominsky, the success story tore his MCL this week, which will sideline him for five to six months, putting him in line to potentially return for a deep Lions playoff push.
