Tennessee Titans Land Shockingly Low Rating For 2024

The Tennessee Titans made some major changes this offseason in hopes of getting their offense on track. Head coach Mike Vrabel was fired and replaced by Brian Callahan, formerly the offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Personnel-wise, the team was aggressive in free agency to upgrade the supporting cast around quarterback Will Levis. In free agency, they signed two veteran wide receivers, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd.

They will combine with DeAndre Hopkins to make one of the better trios in the NFL. If the Tennessee Titans get anything out of former first-round pick Treylon Burks, this passing offense could really take off.

In the backfield, the legendary Derrick Henry no longer reins. He left in free agency, signing a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

To replace him, the Titans brought in Tony Pollard, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, in free agency. He will combine with Tyjae Spears to lead the running game.

Despite those additions, some people are skeptical of how the team will perform offensively. One of those people is Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report.

Moton recently ranked the five worst offenses in the NFL heading into the 2024 training camp. Coming in at No. 4 on the list was the Tennessee Titans, in large part because of the uncertainties surrounding several spots.

“The Tennessee Titans offense is projected to be a little worse than the Denver Broncos unit because, unlike Sean Payton, head coach and offensive play-caller Brian Callahan doesn’t have a respectable play-calling resume…

If Levis thrives under a first-year play-caller, the Titans offense will exceed expectations, but the unknowns at key positions are why the unit is in the No. 4 spot,” Moton wrote.

The only teams who finished worse in the rankings than the Tennessee Titans were the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants and New England Patriots.

There are pieces in place for the Titans to rise above the underwhelming projections they have entering the season. A lot of that pressure will fall upon the shoulders of Levis, who will need to take a second-year leap to get this squad out of the doldrums.
