Andy Cohen is feeling optimistic about the future of America following news that President Joe Biden has dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
Cohen dedicated a portion of this morning’s episode of his Sirius XM radio show Andy Cohen Live to discussing the groundbreaking decision, which came after weeks of controversy surrounding Biden’s capability to serve a second term in the White House.
The Real Housewives executive producer agreed with many high-profile Democrats that Biden should’ve dropped out “immediately” after his lackluster performance in the debate against Donald Trump, noting that he was getting “madder and madder” every time the POTUS dug his heels in about staying in the race.
With Biden officially out, Cohen said he was “energized” and “excited” for whoever the nominee will be (likely Harris).
“People on the other side are posting all these stupid clips of Kamala saying dumb things. There will never be as many clips of someone saying stupid things as there are of this convicted felon and convicted rapist,” he said, referring to Trump’s guilty verdict in his hush money trial. Trump was also found liable for sexually abusing advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in May 2023.
Cohen also pointed out the fact that there’s only one elder in this race now.
“Who’s the 80-year-old now? Who’s too old to be president? He is so old. He is as big as a house. He is unhealthy. And he is decrepit. And he has lost his mind,” Cohen said. “So, like, OK, who’s the crazy person now?”
He added, “[Harris] is young and she’s not crazy and she’s smart. How about that?”
While Cohen was too “scared” to watch Biden and Trump face off on the debate stage, he said he’s looking forward to seeing Trump and Harris go head to head.
“It an going to be an exciting few months,” he said. “If she is debating Donald Trump, I will be so excited.”
