The Bachelor season 28’s Daisy Kent had the opportunity to become The Bachelorette, but just a week after it was announced she wouldn’t take the lead, she’s revealing why. As one of Joey‘s contestants on The Bachelor season 28, Daisy was able to make an impression on the lead as well as Bachelor Nation. Daisy, who suffered an illness that caused her to lose nearly all of her hearing, and wears a cochlear implant, was open and honest about her disability during the season. Joey was thankful for her honesty, but his connection with Daisy wasn’t as strong as his connection with Kelsey Anderson.
“They were all super nice and respectful”
In an interview with Bachelor Nation’s Nick Viall on his podcast Viall Files, Daisy revealed that she was considering becoming the lead of The Bachelorette season 21 up until two weeks before the finale. “I was very open and honest about it and very transparent that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it but like two weeks before [AFTR I had decided],” Daisy shared. She explained that she wanted to prioritize her health and wasn’t entirely ready for an engagement at the end of the season. “They were all super nice and respectful,” Daisy explained about Bachelor production.
Daisy Kent Consulted Bachelor Nation Alums Before Making Decision
While Daisy may have turned down the opportunity to be The Bachelorette, she did take a lot of time and energy to try to research her decision before making it. Daisy explained that she spoke to many of the past leads from the franchise in order to make the most rational decision about her future. “It’s nonstop,” Daisy shared, explaining she wanted to understand the lead’s perspective before moving forward. “I talked to a lot of past leads when [the show] was in talks with me and I just knew from a health point it would be a lot.”
For Daisy, it was clear that it wasn’t the right time to become The Bachelorette. Though she was happy with Joey during The Bachelor season 28 and imagined a future with him, she wasn’t certain they were right for each other. Daisy was aware that Joey shared the sentiment, and wound up ending things with Joey mutually rather than being dumped at the final proposal. Moving from a relationship that could’ve been very serious into taking on the challenge of leading the show herself would’ve been difficult, and Daisy didn’t want to go into a stressful situation without careful consideration.
As Bachelor Nation prepares for the next season of The Bachelorette, which will feature Jenn Tran, as the lead, some are disappointed that Daisy will not be part of the journey. While Daisy has not ruled out future appearances on Bachelor Nation shows, it is likely that she won’t be ready for something within the franchise for a while. Though it would’ve been great to see Daisy go on her own journey for love as The Bachelorette, having watched her on The Bachelor will have to suffice for Bachelor Nation for now.
