The Washington Commanders’ 2024 rookie class was set to report to training camp on Thursday. However, the biggest news of the day was the pending exit of team president Jason Wright.

Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post broke the story that the Commanders will begin an immediate search for a new team president, and Wright will serve as an adviser this season. He will officially leave the team after the upcoming season.

This is the latest change for the Commanders under the new ownership group led by Josh Harris. Washington hired general manager Adam Peters in January and Peters has reshaped the front office. There is also a new coaching staff led by head coach Dan Quinn. The Commanders have made other significant hires, too, including Dave Gardi as the franchise’s new senior vice president of football initiatives.

The news of Wright’s pending exit was met with mixed emotions on social media. Some recognize that Wright entered a difficult situation, cleaning up Dan Snyder’s messes, while others will never forgive Wright’s role in leading the rebranding of the team to the “Commanders.”
