NFL exec points out yet another young Texans building block to get really excited about

The Houston Texans have one of the youngest rosters in football. Bolstering young talent on the defensive line, in the secondary, and at wide receiver, they’ve got an impressive core to build on for years to come. NFL exec points out yet another young Texans building block to get really excited about

They’ve seemingly righted the ship, and a young defender is garnering respect.

Via ESPN, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler broke down a survey given to league executives, coaches, and scouts. That survey ranks top 10 players at different positions. Check out his description for how they come to their rankings below.

With 2024 NFL training camps on the horizon, it is again time for the league’s true insiders to make their voices heard. ESPN surveyed league executives, coaches and scouts to help us rank the top 10 players at 11 different positions, from quarterback to cornerback and all positions in between. This is the fifth edition of these rankings, and as usual, several players have moved up or fallen off last year’s lists.

Jalen Pitre mentioned as one of the top safeties in the NFL

Jalen Pitre, Houston Texans: In his first two seasons, Pitre has recorded 231 tackles and five interceptions. “Just a good all-around safety. He’s got a chance to be a great player with time,” an AFC executive said. — ESPN+

Pitre was a bit of a raw prospect entering the NFL. His athleticism was exciting during his college days, though, and the fit in Demeco Ryans’ defense has been like a glove. Pitre made strides in year two, totaling 60 tackles and a 61.6 grade from Pro Football Focus.

The young safety has certainly been a risk taker so far in his NFL career. If you watched him in college, that won’t shock you. Regardless, sometimes, those chances work in his favor. Sometimes, they end up being big plays for the opposing offense.

No matter what – Pitre seems to be a cornerstone player for the Texans defense. folks around the league are already taking notice after just two seasons in the pros.

Expect Houston to continue to build around Pitre, star CB Derek Stingley Jr., and possibly rookie CB Kamari Lassiter. All three could create a great foundation for years to come on the Texans defense.
