16 & Pregnant alum, Whitney Purvis didn’t cross over to Teen Mom with people like Amber Portwood and Farrah Abraham. Instead, after Season 1 of the earlier show, the MTV alum left and lost out on a lot of cash. However, it now seems that Netflix might be filming a docuseries. Allegedly, she’s been in talks and is filming with the streaming giant.
Teen Mom Was Already On Netflix
In 2020, fans of the MTV show heard that Netflix would stream the Teen Mom show. Teen Mom 2 dropped in mid-December that year. However, the latest alleged involvement of the streaming platform with alums from MTV has not been confirmed. For now, it’s just speculation because only one person seems to be talking about a docuseries.
Teen Mom fans didn’t see much of Whitney Purvis after Season 1 of 16 & pregnant. However, they know that she welcomed baby Weston Jr. in 2009. Another boy came along in 2014, but she and baby daddy Weston Sr. finally split. Despite arrests, she studied and seems to be living a decent life now. However, she struggles financially, and this year, she failed to pay child support for the boys who are in the custody of Weston.
A Netflix Docuseries?
Whitney Purvis started off the talk about a Netflix docuseries. On social media, other 16 & Pregnant alums seemed surprised because they also wanted in. Soon, a post made it to Reddit where MTV fans discussed the possibilities. One of the screenshots came from Starcasm, who noted that Megan McConnell, Lizzie Mortensen, and Ashley Salaza would love to participate.
The alleged Teen Mom docuseries is apparently already filming with Whitney Purvis. The outlet cited her as saying “Filming for the Netflix doc today.” It comes about a month after she first mentioned being in talks. On Reddit, the OP wrote:
Allegedly there is a Netflix documentary being made about the Teen Mom/16 & Pregnant franchise.
MTV fans liked the sound of it and some of them would tune in for a Netflix docuseries. here are their thoughts:
- Here for it. Stopped watching because it became apparent how unethical it all was. The future will look back on early reality TV (especially) as incredibly exploitative, I think.
- I’m actually really excited about this. I’ve always wanted decent updates on the 16&P girls who didn’t go on to Teen Mom.
- I am so looking forward to this!!! I will have my popcorn ready 🍿
Not Everyone Is Wild About Whitney
The whole story about a Netflix docuseries at this time hinges on what Whitney is saying. Not everyone thinks that she’s totally honest. One fan complained on another Reddit post:
Whitney isn’t the most honest person. she was pretending for months she still had custody of Weston and River by stealing pictures of them Weston and his wife took. and pretending she took them until they revealed the truth. She doesn’t show up for visits either and was arrested for not paying them child support. her Meemaw has custody of her baby.
